CNC Machinist - Afternoon shift operations

Pay & Shift Details:
Shift Hours:
 Afternoon 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Schedule: Monday to Friday 
Compensation: Up to $30/hour (DOE) + $1.25/hour shift premium while on afternoon. 

About the Role:

As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for programming, setting up, editing code and operating CNC machines—primarily large gantry style mills and lathes—to produce high-quality molds that meet precise specifications. Your expertise will ensure smooth production flows, optimal machine performance, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret Engineering Drawings & Blueprints: Understand complex technical documentation to determine machining processes and requirements.
  • Program CNC Machines: Write, verify, and optimize G-code programs using industry-standard software for precision manufacturing.
  • Machine Setup & Tool Changes: Configure CNC machinery (5 axis set ups), including tooling and fixturing, to meet tight tolerances on large-scale components.
  • Operate & Monitor Machines: Oversee machining processes, troubleshoot issues promptly, and make adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Routine Maintenance: Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on CNC equipment to ensure longevity and peak performance.
  • Collaborate & Improve: Work closely with engineering teams to refine processes, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.

Qualifications & Skills:

Required:

  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a CNC Machinist in a precision manufacturing environment
  • Proven ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints
  • Strong proficiency in G-code programming and CNC machine operation
  • Experience with various CNC equipment, including mills, lathes, and especially large gantry-style machines
  • Skilled in setup, calibration, and tooling changeovers, including 5-axis machining
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machine or process issues efficiently

Preferred:

  • Certifications in CNC machining or related fields
  • Experience with CAD/CAM software
  • Familiarity with large-scale, low-volume, job-specific machining projects
  • Knowledge of quality control and inspection techniques using measurement tools

All work takes place in newly constructed residential homes, partnering with some of the Pittsburgh area’s top home builders. Candidates with mechanical aptitude, prior construction experience, or a desire to learn a skilled trade are encouraged to apply.

Job Details:
Hours: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
Pay rate: Up to $20per hour BOE potentially higher for well qualified/ experienced candidates 
Progression: Accelerated progression plan, where raises are earned based on ability, quality of work and reliability.  Ability to earn several raises within your first 3 to 6 months with the company.   Potential to become a crew lead as company is adding new crews to their schedule as they hire more technicians. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install residential HVAC systems and components in new construction homes
  • Assist in the setup and assembly of ductwork, air handlers, and other system elements
  • Read and follow basic blueprints or layout drawings with guidance
  • Use hand and power tools including drills, saws, tin snips, and tape measures
  • Work safely on multi-story residential structures (must be comfortable with heights)
  • Follow job site protocols and work as part of a team to meet installation timelines
Requirements:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to accurately use a tape measure and basic tools
  • Comfortable working outdoors and on job sites in various conditions
  • Reliable transportation to/from job sites – Ability to transport your tools and a step ladder (will fit in an average car, does not require a truck)
  • Must be physically able to lift, bend, climb, and carry as required by the job
  • Prior experience in construction, carpentry, electrical, or plumbing is a plus
  • HVAC or technical school education is preferred but not required
