Job hopping has been more common in recent years, and it could be the reason why you are applying for jobs and not hearing back! As an example, having 4 jobs in 5 years or every job on your resume lasting less than year could be the reason.

Understanding the hiring manager’s point of view when looking at your resume is an important thought when writing a resume and talking during an interview. They could assume your plan is to leave soon after hired or leave when things get tough!

Here are some important ideas to keep in mind!

· Don’t need to put every short-term job on your resume but watch for gaps.

· Be able to talk through why you left each job without negatively bashing every company showing a similar pattern.

· Do not lie on your resume! Must be able to talk through dates on your resume.

· Understand if I was a hiring manager would I like that response?

· If there is a pattern in your job hopping, find out how you can learn from it in a positive way

· Showing you can stay at multiple jobs on your resume for at 2-3 years+ is important.

· Push through moments in jobs when you tend to want to leave. Think how can I learn from this?

· Find positivity and growth in a new job to further your career

Overall, when making your resume and talking in an interview it is important to understand if you are the hiring manager, what type of candidate would they want to hire? Someone who wants to stay to better their career, or someone who plans to leave right away? It is important to create a fluent resume and be able to talk through your resume in a positive way when interviewing!
