TOPS has partnered with a local machine shop looking to add a couple laborers to their growing shop.
In this position you will be required to assist in various areas of our machine shop as need. Duties will include things like operating secondary shop equipment, mainly saws and polishing machines, helping finish paint machined parts, assisting with stocking of materials into inventory, and possibly additional duties as assigned my management.

Contract to Hire Opportunity
Schedule: Monday to Friday – Occasional weekend could be required on as needed basis
Hours: 6am – 3:30pm
Pay rate: up to $21 per hour based on experience

Duties/Responsibilities
- General laboring duties as assigned by management in shop. These duties could change from day to day based on our needs and where we could use the extra help in the shop
- Operate saws to cut materials (mostly metal) down to workable lengths for machinists.
- May be required to operate more than one saw at a time. These are automated saws, so once you get one set up and running you would be required to start setting up a second saw and getting it going as well.
- Blue print reading would be a plus but not required willing to teach on the job.
- Set up of saws and other shop equipment (blade changes, other adjustments to saws)
- Inspect all stages of cutting designated per technical drawing specifications.
- Ensure accurate records are kept (time cards, time per operation, QA Inspection Reports)
- Operate crane to position workload, Operate sandblaster to finish work piece to required acceptability
- Understand & use company color code for identification of all production material
- Operate forklift to move materials
- Mark products and/or packaging according to customer specifications
- Record amount of parts produced during work shift, need to be able to count and accurately record production for the day.
- Stocking of material into inventory work
- Painting of parts and finished products.
- May be required to polish some finished products, using a lathe or various other grinding wheels.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent or AS degree
- 1 years of related work experience or AS degree in a related field
- Ability to do basic shop math
- Ability to read prints or schematics is preferred but not required
- Ability to muli-task and monitor multiple machines in operation.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing and performing repetitive tasks.
- Must be able to lift up to 40lbs
