Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Overview:

Required Skills:

Strong problem-solving abilities, creativity, and technical acumen.
Familiarity with automation practices, BOM systems, and mechanical drawing standards.
Excellent communication skills, organization, and the capacity to manage multiple projects efficiently.
Knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma concepts is a plus.

Nice to Have Skills:

Experience with Inventor, Autodesk products, Vault Pro, or other MRP systems.
Project management certification such as PMP or experience with Microsoft Project.
Electrical experience, VOC understanding, rapid product development techniques, and NPDP certification are advantageous.

Preferred Education & Experience:

BSME or equivalent degree.
5+ years manufacturing environment experience, particularly in metals or sheet metal.
4+ years solid modeling experience.
Proven track record in product development, equipment design, and process improvement projects.

Other Requirements:

Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, including periodic exposure to plant areas with PPE.
Willingness to work scheduled hours onsite.
Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English, with the physical capacity to perform tasks including lifting, standing, and working at a computer for extended periods.
Occasional travel may be required for project needs.

Plasma cutting Table Operator

TOPS Staffing is currently looking to hire a few qualified machine operators for a growing client in Petersburg, VA.

In this position you will be operating a state of the art Laser cutting table machine, to process plate steel moving through out facility. As an operator you will be responsible for loading and unloading your machine, operation of the machine itself, making any adjustments needed from the HMI screen on the machine, and quality checks (measuring pieces and confirming holes or cut outs are accurate)

Ideally we are looking for individuals with prior fabrication or machine shop experience, any sort of CNC background would be extremely helpful.

Job Details:
Afternoon shift position – Monday to Friday
Hours: 3pm to 11:30pm
Schedule: Monday to Friday

Pay rate: Starting pay rate of $21.00 per hour while working on contract to hire; company offers a profit sharing program once hired on directly that offers a monthly bonus of between $1000 to $1500 each month to your pay check depending on how the company is performing.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Operation of laser cutting tables
Loading and unloading of machine - Use of overhead crane
Ability to read prints or shop drawings
Ability to measure accurately - Must be able to read a tape measure
Quality checks of pieces coming off your machine.
Use of machine interface to make edits to cutting programs
Use of overhead cranes or forklifts to load or unload pieces from machine
Deburring of parts using a grinder coming off table

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED equivalent
Prior experience in a machine shop or fabrication environment is preferred.
Must have prior machine operation experience in a manufacturing or similar environment.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods standing
Lifting of up to 40lbs on occasion
Have reliable transit to and from work.
