SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Proxy Legal Staffing & Search Group has partnered with a growing firm to find a Title Attorney for a remote contract position. This is a remote contract role. Pay rate: $ 40 + DOE

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze title abstracts, title opinions, deeds, leases, and related real estate documents.
  • Examine chain of title and identify ownership interests, encumbrances, and title defects.
  • Prepare and/or review title opinions and ownership reports.
  • Interpret legal descriptions and property records.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to project managers and clients.
  • Ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable state laws and project requirements.
  • Meet established production and quality standards.

Required Skills

  • Licensed attorney with at least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Strong title review and conveyancing judgment
  • Ability to evaluate risks and communicate findings clearly
  • Detail oriented with dependable turnaround for time sensitive work

Nice to Have Skills

  • Experience with abstracting or title abstraction workflows
  • Familiarity with remote case documentation and collaboration

Education and Experience

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • 3+ years of title related legal experience

Oil & Gas Title Attorney

Proxy Legal Staffing & Search Group is partnering with a leading energy company to find an experienced Senior Oil & Gas Title Attorney. This position supports land acquisitions, title analysis, and ownership matters throughout Pennsylvania and West Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • Review title opinions, abstracts, leases, deeds, and oil and gas agreements to determine ownership and identify title risks.
  • Develop title curative and mitigation recommendations and coordinate resolutions.
  • Support land acquisitions, including drafting and reviewing leases, deeds, amendments, ratifications, and pooling declarations.
  • Approve title for payment on lease and fee acquisitions.
  • Review heirship documents and calculate Net Revenue Interest (NRI) and Working Interest (WI).
  • Support Division Orders with title and ownership information for royalty distribution.
  • Draft legal memoranda and collaborate with internal Legal teams and outside counsel on title issues and litigation.
  • Conduct due diligence for land transactions and support special projects.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active Pennsylvania or West Virginia Bar membership in good standing.
  • 5 + years of oil and gas title experience, including abstracting, title opinion review or drafting, and title curative resolution.
  • Strong knowledge of Pennsylvania and West Virginia oil and gas title law and laws of descent and distribution.
