HVAC Technicians - Installers and Service

TOPS Staffing has partnered with a reputable local heating and cooling contractor to hire multiple HVAC Technicians for their growing field installation team. This is a fantastic opportunity to begin or build your career in the HVAC trade, with on-the-job training and advancement potential.

All work takes place in newly constructed residential homes, partnering with some of the Pittsburgh area’s top home builders. Candidates with mechanical aptitude, prior construction experience, or a desire to learn a skilled trade are encouraged to apply.

Job Details:
Hours: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
Pay rate: Up to $20per hour BOE potentially higher for well qualified/ experienced candidates 
Progression: Accelerated progression plan, where raises are earned based on ability, quality of work and reliability.  Ability to earn several raises within your first 3 to 6 months with the company.   Potential to become a crew lead as company is adding new crews to their schedule as they hire more technicians. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Install residential HVAC systems and components in new construction homes
• Assist in the setup and assembly of ductwork, air handlers, and other system elements
• Read and follow basic blueprints or layout drawings with guidance
• Use hand and power tools including drills, saws, tin snips, and tape measures
• Work safely on multi-story residential structures (must be comfortable with heights)
• Follow job site protocols and work as part of a team to meet installation timelines

• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
• Ability to accurately use a tape measure and basic tools
• Comfortable working outdoors and on job sites in various conditions
• Reliable transportation to/from job sites – Ability to transport your tools and a step ladder (will fit in an average car, does not require a truck)
• Must be physically able to lift, bend, climb, and carry as required by the job
• Prior experience in construction, carpentry, electrical, or plumbing is a plus
• HVAC or technical school education is preferred but not required

Position: TIG Welder
Pay: $20-$23hr
Working Days: Sunday - Wednesday OR Wednesday - Saturday
Shift Time: Afternoon: (3:00 PM - 1:30 AM) - Only time available for both options

Required Skills:

• Ability to stand for at least 8 hours and lift up to 50 pounds
• Strong focus on safety, quality, and timeliness

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience with aluminum and steel welding in both standard and custom projects
• Knowledge of welding symbols and inspection techniques
• Ability to perform material preparation like grinding, drilling, and cutting

Preferred Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial welding setting

Position: Industrial Assembler / Painter

Join a leading manufacturer in the natural gas and industrial equipment sector as an Industrial Assembler / Painter and play a vital role in delivering high-quality finishes on large-scale steel components and pressure vessels. What You’ll Do:

• Large scale breakdown and assembly 
• Prepare and paint steel surfaces, ensuring optimal cleanliness and readiness through sanding, masking, and surface prep.
• Operate spray systems—airless, conventional, or HVLP—to apply primers, epoxies, and protective coatings on large industrial parts.
• Assist with or operate sandblasting or abrasive blasting equipment to achieve ideal surface finishes.
• Conduct thorough inspections to verify coating thickness and surface quality
• Breakdown equipment, paint and refurb, reassemble 
• Maintain painting equipment, follow strict safety protocols, including proper PPE and ventilation standards.

Required Skills:

• Proven experience in industrial painting, blasting, or coatings
• Track record of large scale assemble and disassembly 
• Knowledge of coating materials such as epoxy and urethane
• Ability to operate spray equipment and related tools efficiently
• Strong attention to detail and quality assurance
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work safely in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to disassemble and re-assemble equipment
• Comfortable using hand & power tools

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience painting with pressure vessels, piping, or structural steel
• Familiarity with coating thickness gauges (mil gauges)
• Forklift or overhead crane operation experience
• OSHA or other safety certifications

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Prior experience working with steel, tanks, or large fabricated components
• Hands-on experience with pressure vessels or piping is advantageous
• Basic safety training or certifications are a plus
• Previous assembly experience 

Other Requirements:

• Willingness to work in a shop environment with the ability to lift heavy materials
• Commitment to safety and quality standards
• Availability for overtime when necessary
