As a recruiter it is important to not ramble and sell the job you have to a candidate. It is important to listen to the wants and needs of a candidate and understand their skill set to match them to the best job.
Listening and asking the right questions can be very important in a conversation. Asking yes or no questions will get you short answers and no where fast! Asking open ended questions can help the candidate portray what their looking for and as a recruiter you can learn more about them. Here are some examples to name a few!
· Take me through an everyday at your job?
· What are you looking for in a job?
· What is most important to you?
Overall, understanding the candidate’s needs will help build a trustworthy and comfortable experience on the first interaction. Listening to the candidate and not just rambling to sell the job will help the recruiter understand the candidate’s skill set to match them to the best job for them.
