

Instrumentation & Controls Engineer – Industrial Engineering Consulting Firm

As an I&C Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering innovative engineering solutions for complex industrial processes. Your expertise will drive project success from data collection and technical report development to vendor evaluation and field leadership. Key Responsibilities:
- Gather, analyze, and prepare detailed engineering data and reports
- Develop technical specifications, data sheets, and perform bid evaluations
- Lead technical evaluations to recommend optimal, reliable, and safe design solutions
- Oversee field work, checking installations, troubleshooting, and problem-solving
- Review vendor drawings and perform calculation checks
- Serve as Project Lead for single-discipline projects: estimate hours, define scope, allocate staffing, and review drawings
- Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to ensure project requirements are met
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
- Minimum of 10years of engineering analysis and design experience
- Over 5 years leading engineering projects in petrochemical environments
- Proven expertise in specifying instrumentation, process analyzers, DCS/PLC hardware, and wiring design
- Strong knowledge of P&ID’s, PFDs, loop diagrams, installation standards (NEC/ISA)
- Skilled in estimating project costs and managing budgets
Nice to Have Skills:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferred.
- Experience with field instrumentation specifications and control system integration
- Familiarity with vendor management and bid evaluations
- Project management certification or formal leadership training
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field
- Extensive petrochemical industry experience with a proven record of leading successful projects
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines
- Willingness to travel as required for site inspections and project coordination
- Professional certifications related to instrumentation or project management are advantageous
