Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of manual machining experience
  • Strong background in tool & die work, fixture building, and production machining
  • Proficiency with manual mills and lathes
  • Experience operating punch presses, CNC mills (Haas), and CNC lathes (Doosan)
  • Ability to perform drilling, tapping, counterboring, countersinking, and face milling
  • Demonstrated capability to work with various metals and materials
  • Skilled in designing and modifying tooling for different jobs
  • Able to work independently and prioritize in a job shop environment

Nice to Have Skills:

  • CNC programming knowledge, including G-code and M-code writing from scratch
  • Experience with GibbsCAM or other CAM software
  • Familiarity with EDM processes
  • Willingness to learn CNC programming where necessary

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Machining trade school, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience
  • Journeyman-level tool & die certification is highly desirable
  • Cross-training in CNC operations is a plus

Other Requirements:

  • Openness to learning new technologies and processes
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on production environment
  • Ability to work Monday–Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM; overtime opportunities available

CNC Machinist – Afternoon Shift
4-Day Workweek | Overtime Available

TOPS Staffing is partnering with a well-established manufacturing company in  to hire experienced CNC Machinists for multiple afternoon shift openings. 

This is a great opportunity for machinists who are confident running mills or lathes (or both) and enjoy working in a high-mix, mid-volume environment where setups change throughout the day.

Job Details
• Position: CNC Machinist (Mill or Lathe)
• Shift: Afternoon, 3:00 PM – 1:30 AM
• Schedule: Monday–Thursday (4 x 10s)
• Overtime: Fridays as needed (OT regularly available)
• Pay: Up to $35.00/hr, based on experience
• Bonus: Eligible for annual bonus which can exceed $8,000 
 

Position Overview
Machinists in this role are assigned to one primary CNC machine and are responsible for running all parts scheduled on that machine. This shop produces a wide variety of parts, so new setups are common (1–3 per shift). You’ll be hands-on with setups, adjustments, and quality checks, but full programming is not required.

What You’ll Be Doing
• Set up and operate CNC mills or lathes (multi-axis equipment)
• Run a variety of parts with frequent changeovers
• Pull correct material and prepare jobs for production
• Determine proper workholding (fixtures, vises, clamps, clamps, etc.)
• Load programs at the machine using the HMI
• Change tooling and set tool offsets
• Zero out machines and verify setup before running
• Check feeds, speeds, tooling, and coolant flow
• Inspect parts during production using calipers and measuring tools
• Make minor edits or adjustments as needed to keep parts in spec
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
