What you’ll do:

  • Load and unload steel plates, beams, and pipes from flatbed trucks using a powerful forklift and overhead crane.
  • Safely rig and secure materials for transport, ensuring proper loading with blocking and securing techniques.
  • Move finished products across the warehouse, constantly walking and climbing to operate equipment and prepare orders for dispatch.
  • Operate a 33,000 lbs forklift and overhead crane with remote control or belly box.
  • Assist with rigging and securing loads, maintaining safety and efficiency throughout all tasks.

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Experience operating forklifts, especially larger models up to 33,000 lbs.
  • Proficiency with overhead cranes, including remote and belly box control.
  • Ability to handle rigging, blocking, and securing materials.
  • Strong physical stamina; able to stand for long periods, climb, bend, crawl, and manipulate heavy or awkward loads.
  • Basic math and mechanical skills for rigging and equipment operation.
  • A high school diploma or GED.

Nice to have:

  • Prior warehouse experience in a steel or heavy equipment environment.

Position Overview
As a Machine Operator, you’ll be an essential part of the production team, running equipment like slitters, die cutters, and other machinery to transform raw materials into high-quality finished products. This role is perfect for hands-on individuals who are dependable, enjoy teamwork, and are eager to learn.

Our client is willing to train how to operate their production machines.  The main thing we are seeking is individuals with a strong mechanical aptitude that can follow detailed step by step instructions and set up diagrams.  A lot of this job is doing setup of your machine on product change overs, once your machine is set up it’s a pretty automated process where the machine is doing all of the work and your just monitoring it and checking finished product to ensure its within quality specifications. Typically will do a minimum of 2 product change overs / machine setups per shift.   

Key Responsibilities
•    Operate and monitor production machines to meet quality and output standards
•    Perform Machine setup using instructions and setup diagrams
•    Use walkie talkies to call for material needed for specific production runs, a material handler will pull all necessary raw materials and bring them to your work area. 
•    High attention to detail, will be tasked with reading work orders to determine material needed for job, quantity of pieces needed to produce, size of pieces, etc. 
•    Perform basic measurements using tape measures, calipers, or gauges for quality checks and ensure proper machine setups
•    Work closely with team members to ensure smooth production flow
•    Perform basic maintenance, and minor adjustments to assigned machine

Required Skills
•    Experience operating production machinery highly preferred but not required
•    Basic mechanical knowledge, familiar with using standard hand tools to perform machine setups 
•    Must be able to Measure 
•    High attention to detail, reading work orders, material list, product quantities, etc. 
•    Experience with quality control and record keeping
