

AllTek is partnering with a local client to find a talented Mechanical Design Engineer for an exciting in-office opportunity in Pittsburgh, PA.
Overview
Join our client, a leader in designing specialized heat transfer and heat recovery equipment capable of operating in some of the most challenging industrial environments. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a vital role in the development and fabrication of high-temperature, complex equipment used across industries such as steel, petrochemical, glass, and waste incineration. Your expertise will ensure the seamless translation of innovative designs into high-quality, reliable equipment that meets stringent industry standards and customer specifications.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field; strong 2-year degree candidates considered with relevant experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, preferably within a fabrication or industrial environment
- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD; programming knowledge is a plus
- Familiarity with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code and QA/QC procedures
- Experience developing detailed drawings including general arrangements, foundation layouts, piping and instrumentation diagrams, and fabrication details
- Strong analytical and technical judgment skills for evaluating design feasibility
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities to work with multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Nice to Have Skills
- Experience with ISO 9001 standards and quality documentation
- Background performing fabrication shop and field inspections
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 20%
- Ability to troubleshoot and develop creative solutions for complex technical challenges
Preferred Education and Experience
- Engineering or technical degree from an accredited institution
- At least 5 years of relevant design or fabrication experience, especially involving QA/QC and shop environments
Other Requirements
- IN OFFICE ONLY location in Pittsburgh, PA
- Willingness to perform occasional fabrication shop and field inspections
- Flexibility to support project deadlines and multi-project environments
